Product Description

A very attractive and elegant silver-on-copper 5-bowl epergne fashioned in the George III style. It was made by I. Freeman & Sons, New York & London, in about 1940 after the 18th century classical form popularized by Matthew Boulton and other famous Sheffield silversmiths. And, true to form, it is also hand-crafted on copper. The bowls are cut glass, the arms fit into respectively numbered slots in the base, the 4 legs end in hairy paw feet and, as a decorative feature, there is a cut glass finial in the center of the base. All very tastefully assembled.
In very good condition, just a hint of copper at the high points. Marked under the base IFS Ltd with a symbol of a hand wielding a hammer.
Dimensions: 11.5" high, 22.75" x 21.25".
