Product Description
A large and finely engraved sterling salver by the Barnard Brothers, London 1845.
This is a spectacular sterling salver with some of the finest floral and scroll engraving I have ever seen, surrounding a very impressive coat-of-arms with the Latin motto: Fides Spectatior Auro.
All surrounded by a shell and scroll border .
The pictures just do not do justice to the engraving, Coat-of-Arms and the condition.
Lets just say that I deemed it fine enough to be included in my collection since I bought it over 3 years ago.
The Barnard Brothers were one of London's premier silversmithing firms. Founded by Edward Barnard in 1808, the firm continued well into the late 20th century.
The condition is impeccable. The engraving is as crisp as the day it was applied. Wonderful patina.
Dimensions: Diameter 20”. Weight 84 Troy oz.
