Product Description

A very fine sterling coffee pot with flat chased decoration by Peze Pilleau, London 1743.
Peze Pilleau was one of England¡s most noted and respected silversmiths. He was apprenticed in France under Chartier and, as many of the Huguenots did, fled from religious persecution to England. He registered his mark in 1739 and went on to make some of the finest silver in collections to date. Very fine and detailed flat-chasing of fruit and flowers adorns the base while shells, scrolls and trailing flowers decorate the top section. It continues around the handle, the spout, up the spout and round the lid. Fabulous work and too much to describe. There is also a very elaborate coat-of-arms and a contemporary monogram. I have tried to capture all this in the pics but it really is a lot better to the naked eye. Pristine condition. Fully hallmarked on the left of the handle with maker¡s mark and lion passant on the lid.
Dimensions: 9.25" high. 27 Troy oz.
