A large coin silver medallion ice tongs with a chicken claw on the top of each arm by Gorham, c.1864.
A circular drum is bolted to the top of the arms which acts as the fulcrum. Beneath that on each arm is a medallion, finely fashioned and with great detail.
Retailed by Starr & Marcus, who were listed as New York Silversmiths in 1864. Perfect condition and good patina. Monogram on one side of the drum which appears to be a B and an S superimposed.
