Product Description
A George IV sterling swing-handled basket of circular form, by John/Joseph Angell, London 1823.
A good, weighty basket from that eminent family of silversmiths. I am not sure if the mark belongs to John or Joseph Angell, as Jackson's uses the same mark for both brothers, but they were equally good and eventually formed a partnership.
The tasteful, but conservative decoration of shell, scrolls and acanthus leaves is still crisp and clear. No monogram or inscription.
Dimensions: 12.5" in diameter, 10" to the top of the handle. Weight 40 Troy oz
