Product Description
A rare repousse sterling two-handled butter dish in 4 sections with the early 11oz mark, by S. Kirk & Son, c.1868-96.
A wonderful piece of American silver. It is complete with the base plate and liner, both with crisp cross-hatched decoration. The floral decoration has a variety of bulb-shaped flowers, beside the normal roses and chrysanthemums. The lid is topped with a floral finial.
The style of repousse suggests a date closer to the early part of the date range, ie c.1868.
It is in very good condition and is of good weight. Monogrammed with JMH in script.
Dimensions: Height 6”, diameter of base plate 7.4”. Weight: 28 Troy oz.
